On Sunday July 27th, the Secaucus Expos held their second annual "Salute to First Responders/Military Game against the Bergen Taylor Ham Fighters at Kane Stadium in Secaucus. This year, they honored the memory of former Port Authority Police Officer Anthony Varvaro who tragically passed away in 2022 while on his way to the World Trade Center for a 9/11 ceremony.
Before becoming a police officer, Anthony was a major league pitcher for the Seattle Mariners, Atlanta Braves, and Boston Red Sox. His wife Kerry was at the game to throw out the first pitch. Members of the Port Authority Police Department and the "Nam Knights" motorcycle club were also at the game.
A very special thank you to the Secaucus Expos for organizing this special event!!
